This manufacturer supplying the automotive sector began their relationship with JBF Consulting operating the majority of their transportation operations with limited systems and a heavy dependence on paper. To help this client achieve ‘best-in-class’ service to their customers, while at the same time tightly controlling their costs, a comprehensive transformation program was laid out to create a Transportation Operating Platform.
This Transportation Operating Platform will allow our client to accommodate business change and growth without a heavy increase to employee headcount. Functionally, this fully digital platform will help to automate and optimize their private fleet and multi-modal common carrier operations, including: Fleet Routing & Dispatch, Territory Planning, Common Carrier Inbound/Outbound Planning, Execution, and Payment.
An integral component of the strategy, JBF partnered with the client to define and establish a new group within the logistics organization focused primarily on establishing a continuous improvement competency. This group will be tasked with developing the organizational structure and skills necessary to select, implement and steward the process and technology components of the Transportation Operating Platform going forward.
Considering the magnitude of this change organizationally, another key objective is to provide a measured, conservative approach to leading the organization from technology selection through operationalization that closely aligns with our client’s goals and objectives.
