Shippers want to focus on freight savings because traditionally transportation is a bigger spend and more opportunity for savings. But you can see tangible savings sooner in the WMS.

Far too many shippers implemented TMS technology but have not realized the full ROI estimated at the onset of the project. In many instances, the grand vision, which often includes the unification of all logistics processes under a single system, was never realized as the reality of how hard it is to transform one’s operations became apparent.

Trimble announced last week that it would be shutting down Kuebix as of 2025 as they ‘pivot’ to an alternative product. But this article is not about Kuebix, nor is it about Trimble. This article is about the customers that software vendors like Trimble (and Blue Yonder, and SAP, and e2open, etc.) are “pivoting on.”

Unlike user conferences put on by competing supply chain suite providers, the Oracle Transportation and Global Trade Management Special Interest Group (OTM-SIG) 3-day event solely focuses on transportation management and global trade. Given my primary role at JBF Consulting is to evaluate and recommend TMS solutions for our customers, the main stage presentation given by Oracle Sr. Director of Strategy, Dr. Srini Rajagopal was most relevant to me. In this session, Dr. Rajagopal laid out Oracle’s short to mid-term strategic investment areas. Here are the 5 most interesting roadmap items as well as my perspective on their usefulness for a transportation operation.
